deadlines

Here are the key personal tax filing deadlines in Canada for the 2024 tax year:

> March 3, 2025
Deadline to contribute to a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Pooled Registered Pension Plan (PRPP), or Specified Pension Plan (SPP) for the 2024 tax year. Contributions made by this date can be deducted on your 2024 tax return.

> April 30, 2025
Deadline for most individuals to file their 2024 income tax and benefit return and to pay any taxes owed. Filing and paying on time helps avoid late-filing penalties and interest.

> June 15, 2025
Extended filing deadline for self-employed individuals and their spouses or common-law partners. However, any taxes owed must still be paid by April 30, 2025, to avoid interest charges.

It's important to note that while self-employed individuals have until June 15, 2025, to file their returns, any balance owing is still due by April 30, 2025. Late payments may incur interest charges starting May 1, 2025.
